ESSAYS: GENETIC ENGINEERING, DISEASES, CLONING AND GENETIC CODE

A short essay explaining genetic engineering and a simple gene‑transfer example.

ScienceOpinion

Genetic engineering is a very popular and sought after branch today. Genetic engineers are a type of scientific professor who specializes in working with genetics in animals, plants, and humans.

Genetic engineers may work in a research laboratory creating new genetic variants of food-producing plants. However, they may work as genetic counselors for people with rare genetic diseases. For example, Down Syndrome is a genetic disease and genetic engineers study this and similar diseases.

They can also produce and apply genetic treatments by relocating a gene or organ.

We can think like this: Let's translate our body into numerical codes and find the numerical value of the gene we want to clone. For example, the gene we want to clone is the yellow eye gene. Let's consider the code for the yellow eye gene as 101110101.

And let's translate the genes in the body of another organism into codes and find the eye color code of that organism. Suppose this code is 010010011.

Let's delete the code 010010011 (eye color gene code of the 2nd organism) and replace it with the code 101110101 (the eye color gene code of the 1st organism).

In this way, we changed the genes of 2 organisms, that is, we successfully performed the gene transfer process.

As we mentioned at the beginning, genetic engineering is a very popular profession. It is difficult and valuable to earn, do and implement.
